This one hour video will showcase a selection of different free-to-use tools and services for annotating, cutting and searching video that you can use in your university or college. Presenters in this webinar will describe not only the tool but also how it can and is being used in higher education settings and will provide links for further information about the specific tools presented.

Speakers

Erik Boon, Vrije Universiteit, The Netherlands

Erik Boon is working at the Audiovisual Centre of the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam as consultant and product developer. His interests are weblectures and video streaming, lecture capture integration, application and development of webtools. Erik has participated in several national and EU projects: VideoAktiv, TripleL, Zoepportal, OASE and Rec:all. Currently he is focused on facilitating and expanding the use and re-use of captured lectures and DIY-clips. He is also editor for the tech-oriented content of http://weblectures.nl, the dissemination platform of the Dutch Special Interest Group (SIG) Media & Education.

 

Marko Glaubitz, University of Freiburg, Germany

Marko Glaubitz is an e-learning consultant and learning technology enthusiast who is working at the University of Freiburg in Germany. He graduated in Maths and English in 2010. His interests are in collaborative and social learning scenarios, self-directed online learning and breaking up the passivity of online learning content and media, such as videos and screencasts. He is an active member of the ILIAS open source community and has successully realised a number of developments for the open source LMS software ILIAS (www.ilias.de), such as the Interactive Video plugin for ILIAS. He is currenty involved in implementing engaging blended-learning elements both in curricular study programmes at Freiburg University and in a bunch of continuing education programmes developed as a part of the German federal research project "Offene Hochschule – Windows for Continuing Education", which are exclusively laid out as fully online or blended learning courses.

Franck Tankoua, ViJump, France

Franck Tankoua is a software engineer graduated at EPFL (Lausanne) and CPE Lyon. He is CEO at Applite SARL and has been building different types of software for different industries. Learning new things is a MUST for his job. His interest in learning through videos brought him to found ViJump, a platform for improving video learning experience by offering features such as searching inside video or creating video cuts.
